“Our young people must be in the room when we’re making legislative decisions about their future, and today’s first meeting of the Future Forum’s Youth Advisory Board brings us closer to achieving that,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman, Ed.D. (NY-16). “Myself and other members heard from youth leaders and advocates from across the country to discuss their policy priorities and bridge the gap between youth and Congress. From mental health, to climate change, to gun violence, our young people are highly engaged and are leading incredible work to make this country and world a better place for us all. Today was only the beginning of working collaboratively with our young people to develop a legislative advocacy agenda grounded in the perspectives and priorities of youth across the country.”

Martha Sanchez, Director of Health Policy & Advocacy at Young Invinciblessaid, “Given the economic and health challenges confronting young adults nationwide, especially the mental health crisis, it is imperative that Congress be well-informed on the lived experiences of young people and the policies that can genuinely make a difference in our lives. Young Invincibles takes pride in our federal policy priorities created by and for young adults and is excited to discuss them with the Future Forum Caucus. By doing so, we aim to contribute to legislation that accurately reflects the pressing needs of young adults and ensures their concerns are addressed.”

The roundtable discussion addressed critical issues including gun violence, access to education, the future of work and economic prosperity, and access to the ballot box.
