Future Forum Announces New Executive Director Dao Nguyen
WASHINGTON – Future Forum, an influential group of young Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives led by Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., has named Dao Nguyen as its new Executive Director for the 116th Congress. Nguyen replaces former Future Forum Director Sarah Kaplan Feinmann, who helped build and lead the caucus since its inception in 2015 under the leadership of Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif.
"Future Forum is lucky to have Dao as its new Executive Director," said Future Forum Chair Murphy. "She brings to the role a dedicated career in public service and a deep understanding of how policy can directly affect young lives. I look forward to working together to provide a platform for young voices across the country and ensure Congress shares this new generation's passion for building a better and brighter future."
As Executive Director, Nguyen will help steer the generational caucus' work to engage young Americans and provide them with a voice in Congress. This year, the organization's membership is set to double in size to approximately 50 members and will continue its focus on issues like gun violence prevention, college affordability, and equality of opportunity.
Nguyen, 29, brings nearly seven years of Capitol Hill experience and unique policy knowledge to the organization. She recently served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Rep. Murphy where she oversaw several measures that became law, including legislation to increase funding for Women's Business Centers and eliminate the effective ban on federally-sponsored gun violence research. Prior to joining the office of Rep. Murphy, Nguyen served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., where she developed a successful strategy for the passage of bipartisan legislation that provides non-profit organizations with affordable access to FBI background checks.
Nguyen is a native of Southern California and the daughter of Vietnamese refugees. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
