Future Forum Members Express Support for the American Dream and Promise Act of 2021 and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2021 in a Letter to House Leaders

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of the Future Forum caucus, led by Chairman Darren Soto (FL-09), Vice Chair Colin Allred (TX-32), Vice Chair Haley Stevens (MI-11), Vice Chair Sara Jacobs (CA-53) and Chair Emeritus Stephanie Murphy (FL-07), sent a letter to House leaders expressing their support for passage of H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2021 and H.R. 1603, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2021.

"The American Dream and Promise Act will give a pathway to citizenship to millions of inspiring young people. They are Americans in almost every sense of the word," wrote the members. "They are professionals, serving in our US military, going to college or are otherwise productive members of our society. As such, their place in this nation is critical to our continued success and the American Dream."

"Furthermore, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act would improve the quality of life and work for the many farm laborers who help feed America. Their success is critical to our farmers, food security and rural America. Over 20 percent of these workers are under the age of 25. Thus, the future of these hard working young people who help put food on our table is greatly improved by this bill."

Future Forum members voted to pass both bills during the 116th Congress and are prepared to do so again during their scheduled votes in the House of Representatives this week. They recognize the positive impact that these changes in immigration policy would have on the next generation of leaders and are committed to advocating for the young Americans who would benefit from them.

The letter was signed by 12 members, including Chairman Darren Soto (FL-09), Vice Chair Colin Allred (TX-32), Vice Chair Haley Stevens (MI-11), Vice Chair Sara Jacobs (CA-53), Chair Emeritus Stephanie Murphy (FL-07), Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán (CA-44), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07), Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06), Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15), Rep. Lori Trahan (MA-03) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15).
