WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Future Forum caucus, a generational caucus of young House Democrats, announced the creation of six task forces aimed at addressing issues greatly affecting America's youth. The task forces will focus on the economy (including technology and housing), climate change, healthcare reform, education, social justice, and immigration.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, members of the Future Forum caucus – a generational caucus of young House Democrats – unanimously elected Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-53) as vice chair for the 117^th Congress. She will join current leaders, Chairman Darren Soto (FL-09), Vice Chairs Haley Stevens (MI-11) and Colin Allred (TX-32), and Chair Emeritus Stephanie Murphy (FL-07).

KISSIMMEE, FL – Today, Future Forum Chairman Darren Soto (FL-09) hosted a town hall with Polk State College students to discuss COVID-19 relief for young Americans and their overall needs during this pandemic. He was joined by Future Forum members, Reps. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) and Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), and Roosevelt Holmes of the Biden campaign.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of the Future Forum Caucus, led by Chairman Darren Soto (FL-09), Vice-Chair Colin Allred (TX-32), Vice-Chair Haley Stevens (MI-11) and Chair Emeritus Stephanie Murphy (FL-07), sent a letter to House and Senate leaders urging them to include provisions that address the student loan crisis and economic impact payment eligibility in the next COVID-19 relief package.

WASHINGTON – Future Forum, a generational caucus of young House Democrats, this week elected its new leaders for the 117th Congress. Members unanimously elected Rep. Darren Soto, D-Fla., as chair, and Reps. Colin Allred, D-Texas, and Haley Stevens D-Mich., as vice chairs. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., will serve as chair emeritus.

WASHINGTON—Future Forum invited hurricane and storm expert Dr. Greg Postel to brief Members on the increasing cost of climate change and extreme weather events to communities across the United States. Members convened the briefing in response to alarming trends in severe weather events, including an extremely active hurricane season, the recent derecho that tore through Iowa, a brutal heat wave in California, and wildfires blazing through the western coast.

WASHINGTON –The U.S. House of Representatives approved a measure championed by Future Forum to give families more assistance to care for dependent children currently excluded from COVID-19 economic impact payments. In particular, the HEROES Act—sweeping legislation to respond to the coronavirus health and economic emergency—would allow dependents ages 17 to 18, college students under age 24, and permanently disabled children of all ages to be considered as a "qualifying child" for economic impact payment eligibility.

WASHINGTON – Today, Future Forum members sent a letter to House and Senate leaders urging changes to the CARES Act to allow dependents ages 17 to 18, college students under age 24, and permanently disabled children of all ages to be considered as a "qualifying child" for economic impact payment eligibility. While the recently-enacted law provided economic impact payments—or recovery rebates—of $1,200 for most individuals under a certain income and $500 for each dependent under 17, the law excludes young people age 17 and older whose parents still claim them as dependents.
